Up for sale today is this Babe Ruth Personally Owned 1910-20 Spalding Baseball Glove w/ COA. The glove was donated directly to Franklin by Claire Merritt Ruth during an appearance on Franklins TV show along with a few other items.
Mr. Franklin and Mrs Ruth became fast friends over the years and Franklin was quite surprised to learn she was a fan of his and would tune in late night to watch. Glove comes with a signed and notarized letter as well as a picture of Franklin with the glove and a pic of Franklin with Claire Ruth.
Franklin was an American radio and television host personality, author and actor from New York City. His television series debuted in January 1951 on WJZ-TV (later WABC-TV), moving to WOR-TV (later WWOR-TV) in 1962, remaining there until 1993, one of the longest running uninterrupted careers in broadcasting history. Franklin was well known for asking his guest to contribute a piece of memorabilia for his Memory Lane Collection and Restaurant.
