Description
Vintage, Antique, Butter Dish, F.B.Rogers Silver Company.F.B. Rogers Silver Company was a silversmith company based in Shelburne, Massachusetts and founded in 1883. This company was founded by Edmund Porter and LB West, who moved the manufacturing operations to Taunton, Massachusetts. This company changed its name to West Silver Company when it produced silver products for William Rogers Manufacturing Company. This may have been done to avoid confusing the public about the use of the ‘Rogers’ name.
After the partners West and Porter retired, they sold their business and the new owners went back to using F.B. Rogers. In 1955, it became a division of the National Silver Company. Throughout the years, the company used different marks. When you see the 1883 mark, this refers to the founding date - not the date when the item was manufactured.
This butter dish has no stamps but does have a blue sticker that states "1883 F.B. Rogers Silver Company Taunton. Mass."
Dish has some marks and tarnish. I tried to include them all in the photos. The slide works perfectly and this dish is beautiful. It will be a great addition to your collection. It was cleaned but no tarnish removal has been done.
Butter/caviar dish is sold in "as is" condition.
